August 2, 2005: TORONTO, CANADA: To support their global expansion plans, Anil Amlani has joined the VisualSonics Management Team as Chief Financial Officer and Tim Shannon has joined the company as VP, Worldwide Sales. “Our business has grown and scaled successfully in the past 2 years. Our future expansion calls for increased organizational growth and continued creation of value in our business”, says Tom Little, CEO of VisualSonics. “Anil has a phenomenal success rate and experience set in successfully growing organizations, leveraging alliance opportunities and maximizing liquidity events. He is a seasoned CFO with a wealth of experience in growing both private and public corporations. His addition to our strong management team and organization will help us maximize our business successes in the short and longer term”.
In relation to the addition of Tim Shannon, Little has the following comment: “In our short commercial history, our instrumentation has gained further market penetration in a shorter period than any other pre-clinical modality. Prior to VisualSonics, Anil Amlani was most recently COO and CFO at MDS Proteomics Inc. (NYSE:MDZ; TSX:MDS),where he successfully restructured and refocused the organization including leading cost reductions, change in focus, new product introductions, new financing and stability post changes for revenue and customer growth. Previously, Anil was Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at Cancom (Canadian Satellite Communications/Star Choice), where his accomplishments included raising over $600 million in financing and quadrupling the company's stock price resulting in an acquisition by Shaw Communications (TSX:SJR; NYSE:SJR). Other past experience includes Head of Finance, Commercial and Retail Banking at TD Bank, and Senior Vice President, International Business Unit and Senior Vice President, Strategic Planning & New Business Development at AT&T (Canada Long Distance Services).
Tim Shannon comes to VisualSonics from Datascope Corp. (NASDAQ:DSCP) where he was most recently VP, Worldwide Sales responsible for growing and maintaining a worldwide sales and clinical team of 100+ employees. Tim grew worldwide sales in excess of $50M and managed the P&L for the global sales and distribution organization. His previous sales experience includes roles at Boston Scientific Corporation, General Electric Medical Systems, U.S. Surgical Corporation and Bristol-Myers Corporation.
